Introducing Digital Elimu

Why we built a classroom app that makes lessons feel like virtual reality, and what it can do today.

Most classroom screens show slides: text, a picture, and the next slide. Learners read, the teacher talks, and much of the lesson is still left to imagination. Digital Elimu was built to change that.

Lessons you can watch happen

In Digital Elimu, a lesson is not a set of slides. Diagrams build step by step in front of the class. Instruments appear on screen and move the way they would in the hand. Content has depth and motion, so a classroom screen starts to feel less like a noticeboard and more like a window into the lesson. That is what we mean when we say lessons feel like virtual reality.

Made for real classrooms

We designed Digital Elimu around the conditions teachers actually work in:

  • Offline first. Activate once, download your lessons, and teach without internet.
  • Any screen. A projector, a TV or a laptop screen is enough.
  • Local Sharing. One computer can share its lessons with others nearby, so a school does not pay for the same download many times.
  • Instant start. Downloaded lessons open immediately, with nothing to buffer in front of the class.

Lessons by approved publishers

Lessons in Digital Elimu are created by publishers we register and approve. Publishers build lessons, teach with them in their own classes, and publish them to the catalogue, where every licensed teacher can download them. Lessons only open inside Digital Elimu, which protects the work of the people who create them.
